The Making of a Murderer.
Ted Bundy attended the University of Washington. While there, Bundy fell madly in love with a women named Stephanie Brooks. When she broke up with him, Bundy was devastated. Many of his later victims resembled Stephanie, having long, dark hair. There is much debate as to the number of Bundy's victim's and when Bundy began killing. It most likely began in 1974, when Bundy was 27. By this time, Bundy became more confident and social, instead of his normal shy behavior. After graduating from the University of Washington, he attended law school in Utah.
Murders.
Around Bundy's time in Washington, women in Seattle and Oregon began to go missing. On January 4, 1974, Bundy entered entered Joni Lenz's house in Washtington and beat her with a crowbar while she slept, and sexually assaulted her with a bed rod. Lenz managed to survive, but was found in a coma and suffered permanent brain damage. Bundy’s attacked Lynda Ann Healy next, on January 31, 1974 and her dismembered body was not found until a year later. In July of 1974 he approached two women in Seattle. He told them his name was Ted and asked for help with his sailboat. Later that day, the women were seen leaving with him and were later found dead. When Bundy moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, women began to go missing there as well. In November, Carol DaRonch was attacked by Bundy, but escaped. She was able to describe him and his vehicle to police, and give the a blood sample from his jacket. Later that day, another woman, Carol DaRonch went missing. During this time, hikers discovered a large hole in a Washtington forrest filled with the bones belonging to many of the missing women.
Bundy murdered about ten women in Oregon, Utah and Washington. Bundy would sometimes lure women in by wear fake casts and ask them for help loading objects into his car. He would also dress as authority figures, such as police men. He was clever and a good looking man, so woman felt safe around him. Most of his victims were hit in the head with blunt objects and raped before he beat or strangled them to death.
